William Danizet - Founder and Director of Decoclim

My name is William Danizet. I am the founder and director of Decoclim, the company that created the first air conditioner and heat pump cover in France, and that is also the market leader.
Here is my journey:

The launch of the first air conditioner cover in France

When I was a professional in the outdoor furniture sector, one of my clients, the owner of a villa on the French Riviera, asked me for a solution to hide the outdoor unit in his garden.
In 2013, no one had yet thought to offer a solution to cover air conditioners or heat pumps, despite their installations already booming. This posed a real aesthetic problem!
In collaboration with climate sector professionals, I then decided to create a solution that was decorative, of course, but also that respected the airflow of the device, necessary for its proper operation.
I thus launched the first company specializing in the design of air conditioner and heat pump covers in France in 2013. That's how Decoclim was born!

pioneer and leader in air conditioner and heat pump covers

For 10 years, Decoclim has gone from pioneer to leader in the air conditioner and heat pump cover sector in France. I am proud of the journey we have taken.
The company, located in Var, in Le Muy, has 15 employees in 2024 and relies on a network of 6,000 distribution agencies and 7,000 partner installers, thus covering the entire territory.
We have already installed hundreds of thousands of DECOCLIM covers in France, and we are now exporting our know-how beyond borders, with numerous expansion projects in Europe and around the world.

Close collaboration with installers

To develop Decoclim covers, I worked closely with air conditioner and heat pump installers. This relationship has been essential to ensuring that our products meet the needs of professionals in the sector and their end customers.
This is why we developed only slatted covers, because they are simply more efficient than others.
By listening to the installers, I continued to refine the product to achieve covers with ideal characteristics:

  • easy and quick to assemble,
  • offering great durability thanks to the highest quality materials such as 100% aluminum, rot-proof wood category 4 treated to withstand outdoor conditions, stainless steel hardware…
  • modular and combinable (possibility of stacking, aligning, or placing them back-to-back) to meet 99% of installations
  • with a wide range of accessories to adapt to various configurations

Thanks to this continuous improvement work, Decoclim has established itself as the benchmark for professionals in the market.
And for 10 years, I have regularly exchanged views with my installer clients to remain close to their needs and stay the No. 1. Who better than the professionals in the field, who are out there every day, to give us product optimization ideas?

Decoclim: the only air conditioner and heat pump cover with certified performance

Confident in the quality of our Decoclim covers, I commissioned an independent office to test the concrete and precise impact of installing a Decoclim slatted cover on the operation of an air-to-air heat pump and an air-to-water heat pump.
It is the first independent test conducted in the market, and the only one I know of.
The results are clear: the airflow, an essential element for the proper functioning of the units, is perfectly respected with the Decoclim slatted cover.
Our air conditioner and heat pump covers are therefore the only ones that can currently certify optimal ventilation, preserving the machine’s performance.

The creation of the first tool to calculate the ideal cover size

By listening to installers, it also became clear that one of the most critical technical aspects for the proper functioning of an air conditioning unit or a heat pump is the choice of cover size relative to the outdoor unit.
An improper size can indeed compromise ventilation and create a recirculation effect, for example, if the cover is too large compared to the unit.
Contrary to what one might think, the cover must be placed as close as possible to the heat pump or air conditioner to optimize its operation.
To make it easier to calculate the ideal cover size and ensure optimal performance, I had the idea to develop a unique tool, capable of instantly determining the ideal cover size for each installation.
Simply enter the dimensions of the outdoor unit into the Decoclim air conditioner and heat pump cover size simulator available on this site.

The Decoclim tool thus simplifies the work of installers and increases customer satisfaction by ensuring that the chosen cover perfectly meets the needs of the unit, thus preserving its performance without excessive consumption.
